Privacy

This policy describes what Neednot does with your data. It is written from the app's actual code, not from a template.

Effective date: November 7, 2026

What stays on your iPhone

Everything you put into Neednot stays on your iPhone, in a private container that only Neednot can read. That includes:

There is no account to create, no server to log in to, and no sync. Your data is not sent anywhere to be stored.

When you share a link

If you share a link into Neednot, your iPhone asks that page for its title and picture, so the want does not show up as a bare URL. The request goes from your phone to that website, and that website's owner sees it, the same way they would see a visit from your browser.

What comes back is a title, the site name, and one picture. Those are saved on your iPhone. Neednot does not send them anywhere else, and it does not attach an identifier to the request.

Neednot also checks where a short link points, so the right title shows up. It reads only where the link goes, not the contents of the page.

Those two requests can also happen later, in the background, after you close the app, so a link you shared gets finished when you are not looking at it. The request still goes only to the website whose link you shared, and nothing that website returns is sent anywhere else.

Voice and speech

When you hold to talk, Neednot records your answer on your iPhone. The recording is turned into text on your iPhone too. Your audio is never sent off the device, and the transcript never leaves it either.

You can turn off storing new recordings in Settings. Transcripts are still kept. You can delete any single recording from the want itself, without going into Settings. Recordings are capped at thirty seconds.

Purchases

The one-time unlock is bought through Apple. Apple handles the payment and is the merchant of record. Neednot never sees your payment details. Apple is the one who knows which Apple account made the purchase.

What Neednot does not do

Deleting your data

Delete a want and its tallies, photo, and recording go with it. Delete a recording on its own and only that recording goes. Delete the app and everything is gone, because all of it was on your iPhone and there is no copy anywhere else.

Import and export

Importing reads a file you pick and copies it into Neednot on your iPhone. Exporting writes a file you choose to save. Neednot never uploads either one and never picks a destination for you. Once you put a file in iCloud Drive or send it onward, that is what you did, outside the app.

About this website

neednot.app uses no cookies, and it has no analytics of its own. There are no forms, so nothing you do here is sent to a server beyond the ordinary request needed to load a page. Those requests are handled by Cloudflare, which processes standard request data such as your IP address in order to serve the page.

The site loads no scripts from anywhere except itself, and its content security policy blocks anything else. That includes a page-view beacon that Cloudflare's account-wide web analytics setting can add to pages served on a custom domain. If you want to know what the site does, open the browser's network panel on this page and you will see the requests for the page, its stylesheet and its images, and nothing else.
